Life satisfaction, social participation and symptoms of depression in young adult carers: evidence from 21 European countries

This study aims to examine whether the association between life satisfaction and depressive symptoms in young carers was moderated by social participation. Cross-sectional data were extracted from 7th wave of European Social Survey. Our sample included 673 1606 non-carers (aged 14–18 years) drawn 21 participating countries who completed measures satisfaction, participation depression symptoms. As expected lower predicted higher but did not. However, as predicted, relationship depression, with had experiencing levels Further, this effect strongest those highest rates peers. The implications link is discussed.
